one of the most compelling power structures throughout human history is the dynamic of mother – son relations.

the christ mythos is purportedly based 100% on this sexual tryst of a woman and a god.

but my own paltry human story is less dignified.

i am the child of wishes gone wrong. i am the son instead of a girl. and i am a twin.

this extraordinary boundlessness was not unpunished by the gods. it was fully banished and contended so that the greatest of art would ensue.

when i took this photo, i knew my life was untangling.

more than anything, i knew when i looked back on this photo with the safe cushion of time, that i wouldn’t be pained or troubled. instead, i would have assimilated the shock of the "bursted" bubble.

i would see myself, sovereign and wise, succeeding against time’s tide.

next time, i drown . . .
