Make Up Tips-What is the point of tips if it's taxable income?

Question by Travis: What is the point of tips if it’s taxable income?
I know tips are forms of taxable income, but since they are, what is the point of tipping in the first place? What would happen if you make more in tips for a week than you actual hourly wage? It takes away the whole basic idea of ‘tipping”. The business/company is already receiving the amount owed, tips are just a bonus. It’s just stupid to even have tipping be a custom if it’s not even a tip in the first place.

I hate tipping. I feel like someone is going to be nice to you just for money. I think the US is one of the few countries that allows tipping. Strange custom. If a waitress is bad, she should just be fired.
Countries that do not allow tipping include:
China
India
Japan
Singapore (tipping is not allowed but a 10% gratuity is added at restaurants)
South Korea
Taiwan
Australia (very rare and when used it is a reward for exceptionally good service)
New Zealand
Bolivia (5% included in the bill)
Brazil (optional 10% included in the bill)
Belgium
Finland
France (varied amount added to bill)
Germany (very rare and when used it is a reward for exceptionally good service)
Austria (very rare and when used it is a reward for exceptionally good service)
Ireland
Italy (some have added gratuity)
The Netherlands
Spain (depends on the locale, higher class restaurants may include a gratuity)
Switzerland
